Trim the wick
Before every lighting, trim the wick to about 5mm. A long wick smokes, mushrooms, and wastes the fragrance.
Care
A soy candle lasts, and smells the way we poured it, when the first burn is patient and every lighting after that is tidy. Perfume asks for less: placement, shade, and a light hand.
Candles
Before every lighting, trim the wick to about 5mm. A long wick smokes, mushrooms, and wastes the fragrance.
The first time, burn long enough for the melt to reach the edges of the vessel. If you stop early, the candle remembers, and tunnels down the middle.
Then let it rest. A shorter burn can tunnel. A much longer one overheats the glass and the scent.
Windows, fans, and busy doorways make the flame dance, soot the jar, and burn down one side.
When about a centimetre remains, retire it. That last pool is how a jar stays safe.
A snuffer, or a dip of the wick into the wax and back up, keeps smoke out of the room. Do not blow hard across a full pool.
Safety
Perfume
Wrists, the base of the throat, the inner elbow. Warmth lifts the scent. Rubbing the wrists together dulls it.
Heat and a sunny sill tire a fragrance. A drawer or a cupboard keeps the blend closer to the day it was made.
Dry skin holds less. Humid weather holds more. If a direction fades too fast or sits too heavily, write to us and we will adjust the next bottle.
